It’s been a while since I last posted, and boy has it been busy for me lately. Recently I started a new position at work as a Quality & Safety Coach, this involves a lot of auditing, on site visits to our engineers and most of all a lot of driving! So I want to share with you my sort of survival guide to life.
What I’ve come to realise is that when things do get busy I tend to hunker down and just crack on, starting with the importing things such as the tasks at work, all the paperwork I need to file and audits that I have to fill in, I’ll then ensure that I fit a workout in as that’s one of my priorities, staying healthy, keeping fit and more importantly working on my mental health.
Following this up with family time, a bit of playtime with the kids, whether that’s cricket on the field, a walk or a bike ride whatever it is that they want to do, for me it’s important to be with my family as they mean a lot to me.
Then lastly, my hobbies and interests, sometimes it feels as though these do take a back bench, but it’s still important to focus on these because it’s who you are from everything else, this is your time for whatever it is that you want to do.
When life gets busy I focus on what is important, what takes priority obviously the job which brings in the money to pay for my house, bills, food etc is priority because without that everything else would fall apart, then followed by the other key important things in my life.
I am believer of doing things within work time and anything outside of that is your personal time, I’ve witnessed it far too often within the company I work for whereby old team members have gone and new have arrived but they were just considered as a head count. So for me I don’t stress about my work as they don’t stress about my family, work could easily replace me and find someone else to do my job, but my family well they can’t find another person like me.
That’s not to sound big headed or self indulgent in anyway but you’re unique in alsorts of different ways, that’s what makes you human, so I’ll do enough at work to pay for my living.
What I’m trying to say is that from my personal experience don’t stress about work so much, do what you need to do during the hours you’re required to, but the hours you get to yourself make sure to prioritise your health, your family and most importantly yourself!
